Dancing on the pool table to my mum's "Bilitis" record strippin all my clothes off...I was 5...and it was my life long ambition to be a stripper!

What’s your earliest memory of loving/wanting/noticing sneakers? Prolly seeing Boogaloo Shrimp in “Breakin”…doin his thang with the broom stick… I HAD to have them Nike Blazers!!! When my brother started takin’ an interest and rockin’ his kicks with no laces in the 80’s tryin’ to be Run DMC,I got so jelly cos Mum wouldn’t let me rock kicks cos I was a good little Greek girl…But [my brother] used to always lemme kick around the house with his size 10’s…(I woulda been a size 4 at the time). You know you are in deep when you wanna rock tha sneaks and not yo’ mum’s stilettos. I always said to my mum that one day I would only wear sneakers and jeans...and that is exactly what happened. As soon as I moved out, it was on for all…all my money went on sneakers: every colour, design, brand I could lay my hands on. Freedom was the light for me!!! Needless to say, I don’t live at home no mo' and I hardly see my ma anymore...she doesn’t like the fact that her lil girl looks like a lil boy.

How is yr love for sneaks impacted by yr love for music?

I s’pose it just derives from the love of hip hop culture and having been involved with it for over 20 years, since I was a lil' breaker. They called me "Fluoro Breaker" ...cos I decked myself out in the hottest fluoro pink ensemble...with black patent shoes...cos mum wouldn’t let me wear the sneaks. But Dad cracked and I got me a pair of canvas high top nike blazers...with the blue swoosh. I wanted the red, but you could only get those in men's sizes...so big props to Dad for starting the obsession.

What made you want to be a dj?

If a guy can do it, I can do it 100 times better…and I thought why the heck not...I bought a shitty turntable from a charity store and went thru about 20 needles, trying to scratch my Stevie Wonder records...only to realize I had to get a two way scratch needle...totally learnt the hard way!!!

How do people react to a female dj?

It's always great to see a guy or a group of guys try to give you a hard time and tell you how to DJ, then after like 5 minutes they are standing there with their mouths open, wondering how I DJ as good as any guy.

What do you wear when you’re spinning?

Always something F-R-E-S-H!!!!

Do you check out sneakers on the dance floor?

No, I’m too busy dancin' up a storm behind the decks...and I know no one has fresher kicks than me!!

What are yr favorite sneakers these days?

The ones I can’t stop wearing for comfort factor and sheer “breakin necks” are my Union 180’s…I can’t get enough of them. For pure eye candy value for myself are my Bathing Ape Snakeskin Adidas.

How would people describe your sneaker collection?

Insane!!! My room is like a museum of sneakers, records and toys.

If you could design the perfect sneaker what would it look like?

It’d have to be bright, out there and Chunky… everything that I am. One day I’ma get a sneaker deal…if Missy can do it, so can I.

What artist would you like to see involved in a collab?

My mate Billie Stone cos she is the dopest artist ever. Frida Khalo would have done a sick collab too…but def we need some female artists droppin science. And someone needs to get Kgiovanna a sneaker collab. NOW!!!! That girl is off da hook.

How has the online sneaker community influenced you or your collection?

Big time. These girls on FSF def have some mad heat and also the bois on SneakerFreaker are so on it with info about releases and collab…so they keep me in the loop.

What’s something that you must stay on top of if you’re a real female sneaker fiend?

Bein’a female and standing up to the stooped lads that invade our site with their misogynistic views.
