A discussion about our dream of opening our own sneaker store...
Emily: [We'd have] old sneakers, like old school. All the nice ones. None of those ugly sneakers with two colors that should just not go together.
Like the maroon and brown ones?
Nope, m-nm.
No pink sneakers?
Nope. They'd have to be, like, incredible for them to be in there, but...
Or named after one of us!
I doubt it though... It's not going to happen.
And nothing like real, can we stay away from the real space boots designs, you know, with the super big shocks on the bottom?
Or the shining...
Yea, the real shiny ones, or the ones that don't have any laces...
Um, I'll all set with that.
What about, I'm thinking maybe we should have a section of the store that has used sneakers. Cuz that's pretty unusual... You know, and you could kind of trade stuff in, if you had some nice stuff that was in good shape. And then we could give folks good deals on used sneakers...
As long as they smell good.
Good point... Yea, we don't want people to know our store by the smell...What about the walls? What should we have on the walls?
All old pictures, from like basketball, like Michael Jordan, the WNBA...;
I think maybe we should get, [a friend] to do a mural of us dunking or something... Now, are you gonna put a DJ booth in the back?
Oh, of course.
Yea, that'd be nice... Cuz then people could rent out the space for little parties. Or we could just have you spinning in the back... Should we have food in the store?
Yea, separate from the sneakers though!

What do you think got you into liking sneakers?
Probably basketball, hip hop, all that...
Like playing basketball out in the street, or for a team, or..
Both.
Different set of sneakers in those two settings, or the same?
Well, when you're out in the street you're just looking at all the people that are playing, you see all these sneakers, but when you're in high school it's mostly to match your sneakers to your uniform, so... I don't really like wearing the same sneakers as everybody else. I want to be different, so that's how I'm different.

What do you do if something bad happens to a pair of sneakers?
Oh my god! I don't know... Flip out! Wash them, like right away!
[Emily's pretty laid back, but this possibility clearly alarmed her.]
